Understanding Studentship

Studentship.

Is it a real word? Yes it is.

I had to look it up. Old school dictionary style.

Even before I was totally sure what it meant, I used the word in conversation recently to describe the intense period of study that’s consumed me the last few months. Not sure what has me so curious, but I find myself craving the intrinsic excitement that comes with learning something new.

I was recently hired to build a presentation design course for educators. While I’ve already outlined the majority of content and resources I’ll be using, I can’t stop myself from absorbing all I can on the topic. As I continue to dig, I keep making meaningful connections between this topic and others I’m keenly interested in like visual imagery, UX, and storytelling.

And when I pick up another book or breeze through another training, I can’t help but feel that’s what studentship really means…

Discovering all the ways to connect the things you’re truly passionate about.
