Helping Zebra Coalition With Tegan and Sara

Out on the road for a few days with my friends @teganandsara in support of their Hey I’m Just Like You tour and the release of their NYT best-selling memoir High School.

This touring show is unlike anything they’ve done before. It’s more theatre production than rock concert, made up of readings from the memoir, old VHS recordings, and a collection of old and new songs reimagined.

It’s definitely a show that makes you feel, but more importantly it’s a show that makes you think. In bringing forth this new material and sharing all they do, Tegan and Sara have taken on the great responsibility of contextualizing the conversation about what it means to grow up queer, lending language to so many of us to help articulate our own experiences wrestling with issues of identity and belonging.

These are the kinds of stories that have gone unheard for so long - Important stories that might help someone feel less alone. I’m so grateful to be bringing them back to my friends at @zebra_coalition.

Fun Fact: Tegan and Sara and Zebra Coalition have been supporting each other for years. Whether it’s the donation of merch sales from local shows or Zebra being promoted as a resource for LBGTQ+ youth on the @teganandsarafoundation website - There is so much good coming from and between these two camps. I’m just so grateful for them both.
