Florida NOW and Women's Equality Day

What an honor to join Florida NOW, the League of Women Voters of Florida, Rep Joy Goff-Marcil (HD30), Rep Geraldine Thompson (HD44), Rep Amy Mercado (HD48), and Rep Anna V. Eskamani (HD47) for a Women’s Equality Town Hall meeting this afternoon.

Tomorrow is Women’s Equality Day (8/26) and this year marks the 99th anniversary of women obtaining the right to vote in America.

After the 2016 election I felt a sense of helplessness and knew I needed to plug-in to politics at the local level to support and amplify the message of the leaders making decisions in my own backyard. I’m embarrassed to admit that I didn’t even know I lived in HD47 before last election season!

There’s much work to be done and today’s conversation stressed the importance of just getting involved… in any capacity. I’m so glad I can lend my photography skills to the people and causes that I support and that support me.
