OYES Rebranding Winner - Andrea Pinilla Paris
There were many, and then there was one.
This one, designed by Andrea Pinilla Paris!
The branding workshop I hosted in service of the Orlando Youth Empowerment Summit was a few weeks back, but I waited to share the story here until the strategic planning committee had a chance to review our top 3 submissions and vote on which design would represent the conference moving forward.
Andrea’s design was chosen by committee members representing the City of Orlando, Zebra Coalition, University of Central Florida, Valencia College, the One Orlando Alliance, Come Out With Pride, Q Latinx, the Orange County Library, the Department of Children and Family Services, GLSEN, and Equality Florida.
Her design and the accompanying style guide will now be used to redesign the conference website and all marketing collateral.
Obviously I am proud of the end result, but more so of the young woman who showed up to an optional workshop to dedicate her time and talent in the services of others. The only thing she got in return was the free food I supplied to lure the students there!
Andrea graduated last week. I wasn’t there because I was working aboard the Melissa Etheridge Cruise. I reached out to her with apologies and regret for not having been there to see her walk across the stage.
The diploma she received is a lot like this finished logo though…
Impressive, but not the full story.
I am so grateful to have walked alongside Andrea these past few years. She is quietly diligent and one of the most self-motivated students I have ever had. What a gift it has been to witness her creative curiosities transform into such tremendous talent.
And while Andrea is an incredible graphic designer… motion design is her thing. A really hard thing. That she’s REALLY good at.
